Proposal Routing Form 10/12/2009
Am I eligible to apply?
Please refer to the University of Minnesota Board of Regents Policy "Submitting and Accepting Sponsored Projects" for details. Eligible Academic Professional and Administrative (P&A) Employees are also encouraged to consult with their departments or supervisors for additional information.
I am not doing bioinformatics or systems ecology but interdisciplinary research that includes a lot of informatics. Should I apply?
Absolutely! The competition is opened to all investigators proposing interdisciplinary and informatics research projects that promote the use of informatics approaches, the creation of new interdisciplinary team and thus the increase of University investigators competitiveness in extramural funding competition. We welcome ALL interdisciplinary informatics proposals that address the program's intent.
Does the project description 8 pages limit include "References"?
Yes. References for the project narrative should be included within the 8-pages limit of the proposal research description.
Does the project description 8 pages limit include the plan description for "data integration, data management plan and data sharing"?
Yes. Data integration, data management and data sharing are integral parts of informatics. Since this is an interdisciplinary informatics proposal these should be included as part of the research narrative, as applicable.
Does the project description 8 pages limit include the "Project and team management plan"?
No. The project and team management plan should be addressed on a separate page and should not be longer than two pages. (modified from 1.5 p. on 10/8/2009)
Does the project description 8 pages limit include the "External funding opportunities"?
No. Listing of the external funding opportunities relevant to the proposed research and that the proposal will enable you to competitively compete for should be addressed on a separate page and should not be longer than one page.
Should I provide "Current & Pending Support" for key personnel?
Yes. The designation of "key personnel" is that the project would be negatively impacted if that person's expertise was to be removed from the the project. Thus it is important for the reviewers to be able to assess the current commitment of that person on other projects.
